Damir Kusen was born in Zagreb in 1963. He joined the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in early 1992, serving four years in London and four years in Washington, DC. In July 2004 he was appointed as the Assistant Minister for European Union and NATO. He graduated and postgraduated Psychology at the Zagreb University and received the MA degree in Diplomatic Studies from the Westminster University in London, and PhD in International Relations from the King's College London.
He is married and has one daughter.
